BLUE WOLF FLOWER

Wulfenia amherstiana BLUE WOLF FLOWER is robustly hardy in frosty climates and likes a fertile, well drained soil.
Deep rich purple-blue tubular flowers appear on 20cm stems above clump forming green foliage mounds.
Easily pleased in a Full Sun or Part Shade position.
So it is very cold and frost hardy.  
But Wulfenia amherstiana BLUE WOLF FLOWER, is not a good choice for regions with hot, humid summers.

BLUE WOLF FLOWER

– Height with flowers: 20cm approx.
– Width: 40cm approx.
– Position: Ideally Woodland setting but can also grow in Partial Shade/Dappled Sunlight.
– Soil: Prefers humus rich, gritty soil that retains moisture but must be well drained. So clay based soils that have been opened up with some gravel are ideal.

– Fragrance: 
– Frost: Hardy.
– Growth: Evergreen Perennial.
– Attracts: They attract a wide range of native bees, as well as nectar-feeding birds.

– Care: Easy and low maintenance. Cut spent flower stems to promote fresh growth as well as further blooms.
– Deer & Rabbit resistant: Not first choice for these nibbling pests because they don’t enjoy the leathery leaves.
– Origin: An alpine plant from Afghanistan and the Himalayas.
