Sun to 1/2 Shade. Dierama dracomontanum DWARF TERRACOTTA FAIRY FISHING RODS is a flowering plant in the family Iridaceae. Dierama’s are known by many different common names including; Fairy Fishing Rods, Fairy Bells, Hairbells, Angel’s fishing rod and wandflowers.

Undeniably enchanting

Fairy fishing rods are surprisingly very tough and withstand coastal winds and low temperatures, while preferring good drainage and not over watering.

Pretty & Tough
The weight of the deep terracotta flower bells that gather towards the tips of the thin stems cause them to gracefully bow and bop up and down in the wind. Decorative open blooms with curved back petals dress up a low growing, narrow bladed grass mound.

– Width: 40cm – 60cm approx.
– Position: Full Sun to Partial Shade. A nice sunny position for optimum flowering.
– Soil: Well Drained, Hummus rich soil.

– Attracts: A magnet for nector seeking birds, bees when in flower.
– Care: Dead head flower stems once spent/dried, tidy up old dead leaves if desired. Very low maintenance plant.
– Deer & Rabbit resistant: Dieramas are generally left alone by such pests. 
– Origin: This plant is native to southern Africa. The genus name Dierama is a Greek word meaning ‘funnel’.
