Description

Delphinium ‘Guinevere’

A tough and frost hardy perennial that bursts with hardy blooming spires. It’s flowers are lavender in colour with white centres. reaching heights of around 90cm and sometimes even higher. Delphinium ‘Guinevere’ produces a real statement further back in the border and will catch every eye that glances anywhere near it.

A bit of a misconception exists about these plants. People are led to believe they are hard to look after and then hear about it’s toxic properties and sadly some just don’t give growing them a chance. But in fact, they are actually quite easy to grow and get to perform the way that they should! They enjoy lots of Sun but not harsh afternoon Summer sun. Also a feed and some snail protection at the start of growth season, and another feed through the season for even better blooms and wear disposable gloves when handling. That is pretty much all there is to it!

They are tall and perfect to hide further back in the garden to keep kids and pets away, if rubbed against they can cause skin irritation and if somehow eaten they can cause stomach discomfort. A fair bit would have to be ingested to cause serious harm, and trust me, it wouldn’t taste nice at all, so this would only be possible with disgusting persistence.

This Delphinium’s in a group of hybrids known as the ‘Pacific Hybrid Group’. Also referred to as the Pacific Hybrids series or Pacific Strain, it presents delphinium plants that easily grow strong and bloom tall (1 – 2 metres).
