Gourmet Gardening Holidays

The love of garden plants and garden design led us to become a licensed travel agency more than 15 years ago, since then we have been designing and conducting Australian and Overseas Gourmet Garden Holidays.

Our travel business is now separate from our nursery and is called
Country Farm Perennials Travel Pty Ltd.

I take enormous pleasure in leading all of the tours, particularly because it gives me the opportunity to share my passion for travel, the art of garden design and the arts in general, with all those who travel with me.

More Holiday Information

We choose our routes carefully to take in each country’s most stunning scenery and notable sights.

We get off the beaten tourist track. The gardens give us the perfect reason to wander down the by-ways, which most ordinary tours just by-pass on the freeway.

A wonderful mix of gardens; from the world renowned, to private retreats and from palaces, to town and country home gardens.

We do see gardens great and small, but it is definitely not just gardens. We see the best of the best; all the significant historic and natural sights as well, so it’s no wonder that lots of non-gardeners come just for the beauty and interest of the trip. You don’t need to know the difference between a Pansy and a Petunia to enjoy our holidays.

A wonderful mix of traditional life styles, interesting local people to meet, regional arts, crafts, and things unique to the countries we visit.

You really do get to meet the locals in their own homes, and our interpreter is there to help us enjoy talking to them (though many do speak English). Gardeners all over the world seem to be able to communicate over a plant in any language.

The pace is leisurely, with multiple night stays in one town and day trips into the countryside. It gives you the chance to take some time off and do what you please.

The itineraries include lots of alternative activity or rest periods – so if you want to see as much as possible, there are planned outings for you; or if you want to take it easy and explore by yourself, the opportunity is there. You can tailor your holiday to your own interests and energy level.

We keep very civilized hours, with leisurely morning starts to allow the early birds time to explore before boarding the coach, or for those who like to start the day in low gear, time for that extra coffee. The itineraries allow you to do as much, or as little as you please.

The tours are also a gourmet’s delight. Local delicacies and fresh produce are served at lunch time from our smorgasbord table and we go shopping each morning to stock up for our well known and well-loved picnics. When we are not able to provide a picnic lunch, we like to dine in local restaurants that are renowned for serving regional specialties and for that special treat, lunch or dinner at a 5 star establishment.

We taste the local wines (fresh non-alcoholic drinks, tea and coffee are served as well) from each region we visit.

The accommodation is excellent, chosen for the best locations, best service, cleanliness and facilities. All rooms are en-suite, and all our hotels are in the 3, 4 and 5 star categories, so we are very comfortable. We have done a great deal of research to get us into the best places at the best possible price.

The holidays are designed as a once in a lifetime, very special experience. They are not cheap, low budget tours, but are very good value and excellent quality in every aspect.
